Grace Notes :: I am what I am

I am a…

believer

wife

mommy

teacher

encourager

friend…

all because of the grace of God.

Matthew Henry says, “We are nothing but what God makes us.” And yet, it is in this process of Him making me, that I resist, struggle and cry out for some relief.  Do I have to labor so hard, Lord?  Why is the making of me into your image so difficult?

Then I am reminded of the potter. How He takes the lump of earth, the nothingness, and molds it, pulls it, spins it and keeps after it until it is what he intended it to be – useful.

I think again of what I am…by His grace…

believer

wife

mommy

teacher

encourager

friend….

Can I with Paul say:

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.

1 Corinthians 15:10

And once again I am brought lower – with the visible reminder that it is not my place to be and do and make it work. It is His favor that is with (in) me.  It is by His grace and through His grace. It is all His grace, through and through.

And this life I live, yes as believer, wife, mother, teacher, encourager, and  friend – is the place where I best have the chance to be a display for His grace filled work in my life.

I wonder, what is His grace making you to be for His glory?

Oh yes… how we need to be brought to our knees to remember that we do not fashion the outcomes of the day! Very hard lesson for those who like to be in control of the situation at hand… *ahem*.

    :) Loves!
