The Most Powerful Place to Write

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

2 Corinthians 3:2,3

We open our hearts and from the beginning God begins to mark it with His holy pen. He, writes Christ on it – a stamp, telling those who read it, we are His only. Since He is the Word made flesh, this Word brings life and all the power of heaven with it.

And as we go on from there, our hearts bump into others and we write a message on their hearts as well. When we write His grace Words we build up, love on and encourage them.  It gives me pause to think of the hearts I have written on today.  What mark did I leave, when read by the world, to show how amazing and lovely I think they really are?  Have I left a God Word there for others to read? Will my words on their hearts point others to Him?

The most powerful place to write is on the tablet of someone’s heart. I’m overwhelmed by this opportunity He so freely gives. It is sacred space.

His first mark says….

  • mine
  • daughter
  • grace lavished
  • loved
  • forgiven
  • lovely

Do my marks thereafter echo that?

Oh Lord, this pen is yours.

Move it by your holy hand.

Always.

Beautiful Stacey! I just used this same verse in something I wrote this week. Sweet confirmation. “The most powerful place to write is on the tablet of someone’s heart.” Love!

  2. This is so beautiful. I just started a ‘Bible in 90 Days’ reading plan and I’m absolutely LOVING it! Saying it’s a “wide angle view” of God is so spot-on. I’m learning so much just by going over a ton of stories one day at a time.

Also, as a fellow blogger, I so adamantly want to be effective for the Kingdom using the talent I believe God has given me to write. I just haven’t had the confidence to really exercise the talent until recently. I realize I’m going to make mistakes. I realize I have to find my “voice.” I realize so much. But THIS is such an encouraging reminder that the most effective way I can write is on other’s hearts.

This is encouraging, liberating and lovely. Thank you for your words.
