What I Wore : Fashion and Style

“Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose.”
—Lauren Hutton

I don’t pretend to be fashionable. I am not even sure on most days that I’m stylish. I am a mom who has kids hanging on her most of the day. They are my fashion accessories, for the most part. I can’t do all the trends because I’m short. And of course, we have already covered the wide calf issue. But the truth is, I want to look like I’m put together.  I was so humbled when a pinner one of my What I Wore posts and said this:

She has some of the cutest “normal” outfits! – Stephanie

Cute. Normal. Outfits.

That is style right?

Here is what I wore this week…

Left: Grey Cardigan (ATL), Reddish Cammie (ATL), Jeans (AE), Scarf (AE)

Center: Black Cardi & White T, (Target), Jeans (CAbi), Cute Flowers (Heather)

Right: Bright Pink Cardigan (ATL Clearance Sale!!!), Black Tube Top (CAbi), Black Pants (ATL), Necklace (DaySpring)

So how about you? What is your style? Are you normal, too?

xo,

Stacey

First, I’m having some serious hair envy. Second, how fantastic do you look in these photos? I think I need someone to tell me what my style is, to me..it seems…blah :P

  3. My style = your style. Only without all the cardigans. Well, I do wear a few of them. Just not as often as you!

And normal? I like normal. Normal is good.

I’m not nearly as stylish as you. I would wear some stuff like that…but only when going out. Outfits like yours just don’t seem very practical in the midst of washing dishes and diaper changes. I won’t wear anything while cleaning or working at home that I wouldn’t want to be stained, splashed, or have snot wiped on, which would rule out most of your clothes. I find that jewelry and scarves just get in the way of working, so I don’t wear those either. Most days I wear jeans and a tshirt, and when I’m home normally the jeans are replaced with pajama pants. I dress up for church and other outings, and will wear scarves and jewelry and stuff, but that’s about it. I just don’t get how you wash dishes and do laundry in these outfits. (not a criticism…I just must be much messier than you!)

Aprille- for clarification the outfit far right is for church and it was put away as soon as I got home!

But the others are examples of what I normally wear this time of year. I did not wear a ton of jewelry when my girls were babies (they would grab at it!), but now I do. For years I did not wear most of my clothes, because I was trying to “save” my good clothes.

When I realized I would be mothering for about 20 years, I started wearing the clothes I wanted to, and not worrying about if they got dirty. Sometimes, they do get a stain, or ripped. But, I tend to buy sale or cheaper clothes and replace them.

This has worked for me. It “lifts” my attitude on days I am especially ‘weary’.

And…I do love a good t’shirt! Summer is too hot for much else around here!
