What You Can Do Today : End Bible Poverty

Two of my favorite people are Lara Williams and Katie Orr. Last weekend they crashed at my place for about 6 hours. They chatted with my girls, I introduced them to peanuts mixed with candy corn, and we had a dinner filled up with heart connecting conversation. These girls are passionate for the things of the Lord. They are using their influence for His glory. And today, you can join them in crossing the finish line on a project that will make your heart smile and the heavens cheer!

Lara and Katie

A word or two from Katie about The Word:

It has been a year since Lara Williams and I first launched Savoring Living Water: How to Have an Effective Quiet Time. I thought we might sell a hundred or so copies of our little e-book. Yet here we are—thousands of copies later—with the book in print and a leader’s guide right around the corner.

God has chosen to use our little e-book in a big way to help end Bible Poverty. We set a crazy big goal last year to bring 104 verses to the Vidunda people, through OneVerse, a Wycliff Bible Translators affiliate.

Today, we stand with only 16 verses left.

Sixteen!

To celebrate all the Lord has done, and to reach our goal near our one-year mark, we are going to give ALL PROFITS to OneVerse for every sale of the e-version sold today, and we would love for Y-O-U to be a part of the work God is doing in the lives of the Vidunda people!

Every PDF, Nook, and Kindle version sold on Thursday, October 4th will bring $5 to the Vidunda people.

If you already have a copy, will you consider gifting a copy, or donating directly to the Savoring Living Water OneVerse project. Any gift amount is welcome!

Thank you for helping us bring God’s Word to the nations!

Girls, we can do this, today! Please pray and join us in calling this mission complete!  Please Tweet and share this post on Facebook or Pinterest or your favorite social media site!  There is so much we can’t do, but

THIS WE CAN DO!

Words That Will Melt Your Heart

I found the sweetest note on my nightstand last week from one of my girls. I asked her about it, and she said, “When you get tired or overwhelmed, you can read it and know how awesome you are.  It is a good thing for me, that a lot of the great stuff you do, rhymes.” {insert heart melting right here}

How do you top that? Well, how about words like….

chosen

redeemed

blameless

forgiven

lavished with grace

They are straight from the heart of God, written to you and me, and found in Ephesians Chapter 1. I’m chatting about them over at the Good Morning Girls site today, would you care to join  me? Just click the button below.

I Will Pray as Long as I Have Breath

I’ve been a mom for almost 12 years.

And spent the majority of that time on my knees.

I’ve prayed great prayers, written by other moms.  I’ve prayed out loud in desperation with my girls listening.  I’ve wept on the floor of their bedrooms and charged the gates of hell on their behalf.

Most days, my prayers are a bit less exciting than that.  They are more of a constant conversation with their Maker, “Lord, I know you’ve given me this girl…help me”…

{This is an excerpt from a guest post I write for my friend Brooke of “Warrior Prayers” last month. I completely forgot to tell you about it!  So this is me, absent minded me telling you about it now. If this has stirred your heart, and you would like to click over and read the rest, here is the linkBrooke has a wonderful resource for praying for your boys, or boys in your neighborhood, or heaven help us the boys who your girls will one day marry. It is a 21 day challenge to pray for them.  Check it out while you are there, reading the rest of my guest post!}

P.S.  I love Brooke, tell her I sent you by – somewhat late, but I sent you!

A Cookie. A Story

Do you know Kendra of My First Kitchen?  Well you should! I found her this October when she took part in the 31 Days Campaign.  She shared 31 days To An Inspired Table.  I loved her sweet and easy to follow ideas! This month she is hosting a Cookie Contest {remember how crazy I am about cookies?}  Her contest is a bit different.  Share a cookie and a story.  Words and cookies, are you serious?  I was so in!

I wrote my story at about 5 AM one morning after being up all night with sick kids { True}.  Click the link below to read all about it.  OH!  And you can vote for my Cookie and Story starting December 22 on Kendra’s blog.  Vote as many times as you like.  Don’t worry, I’ll remind you.  Up for grabs?  Cookie glory, and some fun baking tools.  And remember, it is for the cookie!

She Dresses Herself With Strength

Just say Proverbs 31 to a group of women and a chances are you will hear a groan rise up from the masses.  Most women, and I include myself in this group, see her as the phantom noble woman.  To achieve her status feels unattainable.  But the truth is, He put her there for a reason, and as His daughter I must contend with her.  Since I love a challenge, I was excited when I received Lara’s invitation to join her on a 22 verse journey through this womanly passage of Scripture.
Join me today, over at Lara’s blog This Adventure With The Most High to read more…
