What I Wore Wednesday

Left:  love this ruffle top from Ann Taylor Loft.

Middle:  my fave CAbi jacket layered over another CAbi staple – tube top.

Right: this by far is my favorite outfit to wear.  cozy sweater (also CAbi), white tank and jeans.

{I sound like a CAbi Commercial.  Seriously great investment pieces that wear better than any other clothes I have purchased recently.}

So Spring Fever is in the air and so is ‘color blocking’ and I’m trying to get on board it. But, I’m  not sure that I should ever put bright orange or yellow pants on my body. Ever.

And the beach is calling my name. I simply must go soon.  Which for me, is not a huge commitment because I could put my toes in the sand in less than 45 minutes door to beach.  But you know, it takes a village to get me and my girl crew there so I must plan ahead. And lately, I’m not so good at planning ahead.

But what I really want to do is borrow a beach house and sit and stare for about 5 days while my girls dig tunnels to China and my husband takes amazing photos of sunsets.  That would be divine.  So you know if you have one….

What about you?  Color blocking or the beach whispering your name? It is Wednesday, let’s just chat a bit!

What I Wore Wednesday

This week, I bought a dress because of this conversation, had a manicure date with my daughter and she chose red polish for me, and I finally got my hair cut.

Left:  Slate blue wrap dress {Kohls}, White Cardigan {Old Navy}

Center:  Red polish – {OPI Scarlet}  (first time eveh!)

Right:  Hair cut by Aida, who is awesome.  And those cute flowers are by Heather, who just had a sweet baby boy!

What I Wore Wednesday

Or is it 1987…

It is true.  I loved Whitney Houston and in 1987 I wanted to BE her.  For my 16th birthday, 10 of my friends took me to her concert.  It was like so awesome. Seriously, I cried. She was amazing.  I was so sad to hear of her tragic death last week.

And yes, this me and my hair, and what I wore to her concert.

As for last week, it looked a bit more like this:

Left:  Cozy Hoodie (Cabi), Striped tank (BJ’s), Jeans (Gap)

Center:  Black t-shirt (Old Navy) Jeans – Edie Bauer

Right:  Grey sweater (H&M), Plum Ruffle Shirt (Ann Taylor Loft), Black pants (Ann Taylor Loft)

:::

So what was your favorite Whitney song?  And how big was your hair in 1987?

Looking Forward,

Stuff I {heart} Day 3 :: Wednesdays

It is true.
I {heart} Wednesday…wonderful middle of the week Wednesday.
We chat.
We gab.
We hang.
We talk about the stuff of life and enjoy being girls.

I also love What I Wore.
It is accountability.
It is community.
It is my own personal look book to see what works and what does not.

So it is practical and fun.  Here are couple of things I wore this week…

Left: Cozy hoodie (Cabi), orange tank (Old Navy), Skinny Jeans (American Eagle)

Center: White cardigan (Old Navy), Striped tank (BJ’s), White Tank (Target), Jeans (Cabi)

Right: Black jacket (Cabi), Black and white print top (Kohls), Jeans (Cabi)

:::

Random thoughts:

I look tired because I am.  2 years tired because my toddler is not fond of sleeping. Sigh.

I love the middle outfit because of the 3 layered piecesHayley would be so proud of me.

The top on the right is one that I love/hate.  I love the print, and I like it under this jacket.  But I hate the sleeves and don’t like to wear it by itself.

I’ll be linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy if i there is one (she is in India).

{Come back tomorrow for Day 4 of Stuff I {heart} Week!}

What I Wore Wednesday

“Mommy, do grown ups wear dresses?”

“Sure they do honey. Do you think I should?”

“Yeah, that would be nice.”

Le sigh….guess I’ll be pinning some dresses on Pinterest this week! Here is what I wore last week.  Sorry Sweetie, no dresses!

Left: Tunic (H&M)

Middle: Stripe T-shirt (Cabi)

Right: Orange Cardigan (Ann Taylor Loft)

Jeans left to right: Skinny (American Eagle), Contemporary Style (Cabi), Essentials (Gap)

****

So, any suggestions on cute mommy friendly dresses I can wear slightly more often than never?

Happy! Happy! Wednesday!

Sweet Lindsey, the one I link up with each week for What I Wore Wednesday, is on a plane right now flying to India for a mission trip.  She is so adorable and you can read about her trip by clicking here.

What I Wore Wednesday : How To Have Style

Before you can think about having style, you have to learn to look in the mirror and like what you see.
Isaac Mizrahi, * how to have style

I picked up this book at the library a couple of weeks ago and it has been fun and mindless reading for me. But you know what is not mindless? That quote.  Yes. The one you are still thinking about. Do you – like what you see in the mirror?  For so long, I have not.  For so long I was not comfortable being the one photographed.  What I Wore Wednesday has been like a light bulb moment for me.  I have looked.  And at 40 – I can honestly say, I am liking what I see more and more!

Last week, my friend Cyndi asked a question: “What is your favorite color to wear in winter?” Guess which color I said?

Black cardigan – Ann Taylor Loft

Black tunic dress – BJ’s Wholesale club

Black V-neck t-shirt - Old Navy

(p.s. what is up with my hair this week?)

And just in case you wonder what is on my feet most days:

1. Free from my friend Krystal

2.  Payless bogo 3 years ago

3. DSW – last year

4.  DSW

It is Wednesday.  Be happy.
